About the Project

The Best Practices of Technology Integration in Michigan project began in the spring of 1997. The Michigan Association of Intermediate School Administrators (MAISA) and the REMC Association of Michigan (REMCAM) wished to produce a product that would feature some of the excellent lessons Michigan teachers were doing with technology in their classrooms. A request was sent to all schools in Michigan requesting classroom teachers to submit their ideas for lessons which featured technology integration. From these submissions, 85 were selected to become part of this project. It was decided that the lessons would be shared on a web site and a CD ROM.

One of the requirements of all submitted lessons was that they be linked to the Michigan Framework Benchmarks and Standards. Because of this it was decided that MAISA and REMCAM would partner with the Michigan Department of Education to include the Michigan Framework on the CD. It is the hope of these organizations that classroom teachers will be able to replicate these lessons, and more importantly, gain ideas on how they can also integrate the powerful tool of technology in their curriculums.
